A closer look at the elaborate fit out work that helped create this urban-chic eatery.
While most of us are familiar with the mouthwatering Portuguese-African cuisine served by the world-renowned Nando’s brand, a lesser known fact is that no two restaurants have the same interior design. This gives the designers a blank canvas to work with. The Nando’s outlet at Dubai Mall is the newest addition to the restaurant chain in the UAE. Moreover, its iconic location necessitated the need to go all out in term of design and fit out for this outlet.
The theme of this restaurant is modern day eclectic while being relatable to the parent brand. Set amidst Dubai Mall’s buzzing atmosphere, the restaurant was to serve as an easy respite to the diners. We had to design a restaurant that could double up as a place to lounge too. The ambience was to be smart, stylish and lux.
The restaurant spans an area of 3,283 square feet which is divided into zones. A small reception, the sit-down dining areas, the bar and the couch seating booths were planned keeping in mind the design, décor and multiple function of the space. Our team was responsible for the end-to-end fit out of this project. Other than the wall, floor and ceiling installation and ornamentation, we also custom made all the furniture. From the tables, chairs and couch seats to the criss-cross wooden lattice on the walls, everything was crafted and assembled piece by piece. The wicker chandeliers suspended from the ceiling, are a part of the focal decorative lighting whilst for general lighting, exposed bulbs have been used. The overall look of the space is rugged with leather, wood and metal being used cohesively. The team at GDM worked cohesively on this project with designers, site and MEP engineers and foremen fully invested in the project and successfully completed it in a span of only 45 days.
